I decided to do another two for one deal so my friends and I went to Moondogs North and Moondogs South.

Let’s start with North.

Straight to the point, this place was a dive. It was actually kind of depressing. There was plenty of space but not plenty of people occupying that space. Of the small group of people there no one seemed to be having a good time.

This is the kind of place that has a small group of regulars that sit off in the corner and discuss the complexities of their jobs. Not in a cool Cheers kind of way, but in a depressing way.

There were very few young people, a tiny dance floor, one pool table and no real action. Hence it’s depressing qualities.

Do you recognize a common term here?

I could go on about how drab this place is but I’ll skip to the two positives and then give North a score because thinking about being there, even days later, is bringing me down a little.

One major plus was 22 ounce domestic beers for $1.75. That’s not a bad deal considering you pay the same amount at a more entertaining establishment like Madison Oyster Bar and get a 12 ounce beer.

Another cool thing was the ease in which you could get music played at this place. Just walk up to the DJ and ask. This is only possible because the place is a dive and no one is there. So is it really a positive?

As we left Moondogs North one of my friends turned to me and asked, “What score are you giving this heap?”

The answer, 1 out of 5.

Now to the South. It only gets better after a 1 out of 5 review right?

Yes, but not by much.

Hopefully I don’t sound too pessimistic here but I’ve been to some bad bars as of late and Moondogs South is North’s marginally prettier sister.

The only difference between North and South are the number of people in the bar. Moondogs South, maybe due to its location, attracts more people. This improves South’s score, but the place still isn’t a big college student draw. It’s mostly middle aged folks.

There were people there dancing, laughing and having a good time which is what I like to see. It’s the whole reason people go to bars in the first place, but with other bigger and better places out there for college students to have a good time at I suggest skipping Moondogs.

Moondogs South gets 2 dirty 30s out of 5.

it seems to me that you are a very unsatisfied person, all you do is complain about these places you have been, the crowd being older, the space, the seating, how many pool tables, people butchering songs, people not having a good time, when it seems like you are the one that is not. i would like to know what your ideal fun place to hang out is, oh thats right, you are a corby’s guy, but you dogged them out too. the only thing you praised was the price of drinks. so what you should do youngster is instead of blaming everything and everyone on why you can’t have a good time, is either relax, get drunk and have a good time, or go play putt putt so you won’t be around older people, or just stay your ass at home.

I went to Moondogs, and your right on sir, that place is a dive. The service sucks, your sitting at the bar and can’t get your drinks, you have to go on the other side of the bar, to get any service.
Oh’ did I mention the pigs (police) that they hire to keep you safe are touching the females boob’s and jerk around the black men when they come in. No I’m a white female incase some are thinking other wise. I would not suggest you go there unless your a desperate person.
